On February 1, 2025, McGarvey criticized former President Donald Trump's proposed tariff policy. He stated, "Remember when Donald Trump said he was going to lower our costs? He's doing the opposite. His proposed 25% tariff means we'll all pay more for gas, groceries, and more."
Later that day, McGarvey addressed concerns regarding mail delays. He reassured constituents by saying, "The mail delays are frustrating, but we're on top of it. My team and I are doing everything we can to find out what's going on and how USPS can fix it—and most importantly: get our mail delivered."
