Later that day, he commented on an agreement reached between the city and the Department of Justice. He remarked, "Our city and Mayor worked hard to reach an agreement with DOJ that will make everyone safer — the Trump Administration coming in PAST the 11th hour just gets in the way."
In another tweet posted shortly after, McGarvey addressed issues related to federal programs. He stated, "This is welcome news, but Louisvillians deserve more than a two-line explanation about why Donald Trump tried to freeze Medicaid, SNAP, grants to hospitals and law enforcement, and other vital programs our community depends on."
